Peer Review Process
Al-Anwar Journal of Islamic Studies employs a double-blind peer-review system, wherein both the identities of the reviewers and the authors are kept confidential throughout the review process. This ensures objectivity, fairness, and the highest level of academic integrity.
The review process follows the stages below:
- Editorial Screening
Upon submission, all manuscripts are initially assessed by the Editor-in-Chief for scope compliance, formatting requirements, originality, and academic quality. Manuscripts failing to meet basic criteria will be returned to authors without peer review.
- Plagiarism Check
All manuscripts undergo a rigorous plagiarism check using standardized similarity detection software. A similarity index of no more than 20% (excluding references) is required for the manuscript to proceed to peer review.
- Double-Blind Peer Review
Eligible manuscripts are assigned to a minimum of two independent expert reviewers. Reviewers provide structured evaluations and recommend one of the following: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject.
- Author Revision
Authors are notified of the review outcome and, if revisions are required, are given a stipulated period to revise and resubmit the manuscript along with a detailed response to reviewers' comments.
- Final Decision
The Editor-in-Chief makes the final editorial decision based on the reviewers' recommendations and the quality of the revised manuscript. The decision is communicated promptly to the corresponding author.
- Copyediting & Production
Accepted manuscripts undergo professional copyediting, typesetting, and final proofreading before publication. Authors are provided with galley proofs for final approval.
