Tanwirul Uqul: Jurnal Ekonomi dan Bisnis Islam (Journal of Islamic Economics and Business) is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of the Sekolah Tinggi Ekonomi dan Bisnis Islam (STEBI) Al-Anwar Bangkalan. The journal was first published in March 2020, with a publication frequency of twice per year, in March and September.

The journal was established as a scientific publication platform focusing on the study of Islamic economics and business, covering areas such as Islamic banking, Islamic finance, Islamic values-based business management, zakat and waqf, and Islamic economics in general. Its founding reflects STEBI Al-Anwar Bangkalan's commitment to contributing to the development of Islamic economics and business knowledge, particularly within Islamic higher education institutions in East Java.

Beginning with Volume 1, Number 2 (September 2020), the journal was officially assigned International Standard Serial Numbers (ISSN) by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) through the Center for Scientific Data and Documentation (PDDI). The assigned ISSNs are 2746-1009 for the print version and 2746-1017 for the online (electronic) version. The registration of these ISSNs marks a significant milestone in the journal's development as a formally recognized scientific publication.

In 2021, the journal encountered operational difficulties that brought editorial activities to a halt. The Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform used for publication suffered a critical technical failure, resulting in the permanent and irreversible loss of all data, including issue archives, manuscript records, and editorial history. This situation was further compounded by the inactivity of the editorial team previously entrusted with managing the journal, making recovery efforts impossible at that time.

In order to revive the journal, a comprehensive revitalization effort was undertaken in 2026 by a newly appointed editorial team designated by LPPM STEBI Al-Anwar Bangkalan. The revitalization process included (1) the establishment of a new OJS platform to replace the defunct system; (2) the reconstruction and re-uploading of all journal issues from Volume 1, Number 1 (March 2020) to the most recent issue, based on physical and digital archives that were painstakingly recovered; (3) the formation of a new and active editorial board; and (4) the development of a more structured journal governance framework designed to meet the standards of a scientific journal.

Through this revitalization, Tanwirul Uqul: Jurnal Ekonomi dan Bisnis Islam reaffirms its commitment to publishing high-quality scholarly works in the field of Islamic economics and business. The journal welcomes contributions from researchers, academics, and practitioners from both within STEBI Al-Anwar Bangkalan and from other institutions at the national level. Going forward, the journal is dedicated to continually improving its management quality and the scholarly rigor of its published articles, with the aim of obtaining accreditation from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.
